Do pill bugs poop or pee?
For grown-ups: the science
Pill bugs poop. They also let out body waste, but they do not save up pee and let it out like people do.
A pill bug's poop is leftover food that was not digested and comes out of its gut. Pill bugs are crustaceans, and they release nitrogen waste mainly as substances such as ammonia. They do not store urine in a bladder and pee like people do. Pill bugs like damp places so the body parts they use for breathing do not dry out.

Under a rock, you might spot little dark dots near a pill bug. Did the pill bug make them?
Pill bugs turn leftover food into tiny poop and let it out. Little dark bits may lie under a rock.
But they do not save up pee and let it out all at once like people do. They let waste from their bodies out little by little.
Pill bugs do not like dry places and use water carefully. So they let body waste out without wasting water.
Pill bugs poop, but they get rid of body waste differently from people.
